Trainings for first-year teachers (Pedagogy and Principles of Business) will take place in person at the MBA Research headquarters in Columbus, OH. The remaining trainings will take place online as live, virtual trainings via Zoom for whole-class instruction and discussion, as well as team breakouts.

In both training settings, teachers will participate in project-based learning, discuss ideas with peers, complete planning assignments, and work within teams. Trainers will be live, delivering assignments to be completed in class and/or offline, with required turn-in times. Attendees must attend the training sessions in their entirety for the scheduled hours, as listed. No exceptions.

NOTE about course guides: Schools only need to pay for this one time. If another teacher from your school has already attended the sessions you're registering for, do not mark the course guide box. You will receive a complimentary copy.

Virtual, Live - ZOOM

*Typical training path by year for HSB teachers; not a one-size-fits-all. Your school may follow a different training path.
**Combined, 3-day course. If you have already attended one of these courses, you may attend the Principles of Managment-only or Business Strategies-only portion of the 3-day training. 

Registration Information

• Payment options: Pay with credit card or choose 'Pay Later' w/Check or 'Purchase Order and Check'; all payments are due prior to first day of training.
• Session times may vary by day and are concurrent; register for only one course per day. Sessions offered at Summer Training Institute are not offered at Fall Training Institute.
• Airfare, mileage, hotel, and dinners are not covered in your training registration fees.

Meal Information

For in-person training: 

• Coffee, hot tea, soda, water, and candy/light snacks/fruit will be provided each day
• Breakfast will be on your own, but we will provide plenty of snacks and fruit in the morning; eat at the hotel (breakfast bar is included only at the Hyatt) or ask the hotel for nearby options
• Lunch will be provided
• Dinners: Tuesday and Thursday we will have reservations to go to dinner together as a group. The restaurants will provide separate checks. Details will be provided in your training sessions.

Transportation to/from Airport, Hotel, and MBA Research

• There is no shuttle from the airport to the hotel. You will need to take Uber/Lyft, a cab, or rent a car. It's about 8.8 miles driving distance from airport to hotel. 
• Trainings are not at the hotel—they are at MBA Research and Curriculum Center, about 1.7 miles from the hotels. A shuttle from the hotel to MBA Research is available upon request at the hotel. Otherwise, please make arrangements to take Uber/Lyft or share a rental car. 

HSB Participation Requirements

Attendees must attend the training sessions in their entirety for the scheduled hours, as listed. No exceptions. This applies to both in-person and virtual trainings. Virtual trainings are LIVE—you will need to ensure you're available for the entire training. 

If you arrive late or leave early, you will not receive your documentation of participation and will not be permitted to teach the course. School administrators will be notified of incomplete participation or attendance. No refunds will be given for incomplete attendance. 

• Documentation of participation and credit hours will be provided after training.

• CEUs are available through Valley City State University. One credit is offered for completion of each two-day session. A separate email will include registration and cost information.

• Pedagogy Pre-training Webinar: Pedagogy registrants MUST attend.
  Date: Thursday, June 8, 2023 @ 6:00pm ET
  Pedagogy registrants will receive the webinar link via email.

Supplies Needed for Training

• School laptop or personal computer  

• School calendar for 2023-24 planning

• Strong wireless Internet connection and backup Internet plan (for virtual training):

  • Personal hotspot

  • Nearby library or school parking lot with Wi-Fi, if all else fails
